Lead Video Editor

The world is changing, the TV industry has shifted dramatically, jobs are scarce, any idiot can edit on their phone and dump endless streams of content on impressionable eyeballs, and AI can already do much of your job. Please do not yet consider jumping into a volcano, UGLY BABY could well be the child you never knew you wanted.

We are hiring a lead editor for the world’s best / worst TV show, UGLY BABY, an entirely improvised show that is created with young maniacs (ages 6 - 18) from Rock Band Land.

The right person would have a ridiculous sense of humor, a deep appreciation for irreverence while always keeping it cool for kids, the ability to work in a highly stimulating environment and to pivot instantly to find the humor. You must be punctual, organized, able to hit deadlines, be self directed, and you must be able to take a joke. UGLY BABY is a team effort and you have to know how to be flexible and supportive. Childcare / teaching experience is a huge plus, though we will consider and train the right person if that experience is limited. This is an in-the-castle position, not remote work. 

Qualifications
- Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, including Photoshop, Premiere Pro, and After Effects.
- Strong understanding of narrative editing, pacing, comedic timing, and storytelling.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
- Highly organized, with strong attention to detail when managing media files.
- Ability to create/follow established workflows, file structures, and naming conventions to support team efficiency.
- Comfortable working collaboratively in a fast-paced production environment.

Responsibilities
- Offload, organize, and manage media, including DIT responsibilities.
- Assist with production during class days and other scheduled shoots.
- Collaborate with the RBL Director and UB Video Boss to produce short-form comedy bits.
- Edit video content using Premiere Pro and After Effects.
- Create and prepare visual assets using Photoshop.
- Produce motion graphics and animations in After Effects.
- Edit and composite green screen footage.
- Create complete episodes, including intros, comedy bits, credits, transitions, and other supporting elements.
- Perform final exports using the correct formats and specifications for sound design delivery.
- Distribute completed episodes across designated video platforms.
- Manage, track, organize, and back up raw footage, completed bits, project files, and final episodes.
